How It Works

How do I earn reward dollars?

By completing qualifying preventive services, you will earn reward dollars you can use to purchase over-the-counter or grocery items or you can even earn money you can use toward Apple products through NationsOTC. Each service, based on the preventative frequency guidelines,* can be rewarded once per plan year.

When are reward dollars reflected in my NationsOTC account to purchase items?

Reward dollars will be reflected in your NationsOTC account once Independent Health receives the claims from your doctor. Claims must be received by November 30th each year to be automatically applied to your NationsOTC account. This can take up to 30 days from the time of your appointment or service has been completed.

How do I access my rewards dollars?

You can access your reward dollars by visiting NationsOTC.com/IndependentHealth or by calling Nations Benefits at 877-270-4239 (TTY: 711), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. To set up your NationsOTC online account:

  • Step 1: Visit NationsOTC.com/IndependentHealth
  • Step 2: Click “Register” and enter your Independent Health member ID.
  • Step 3: Enter your first and last name, member ID and date of birth. Then create a password.
  • Step 4: Create security questions and provide answers.
  • Step 5: Log in.

What is the maximum reward dollar amount I can earn?

You can earn up to a maximum of $150 reward dollars annually. Reward dollars earned will vary by member based on the frequency guidelines.*

What can I buy with my reward dollars?

You can purchase items with your reward dollars through the NationsOTC catalog OR this listing. To view the catalog, please visit NationsOTC.com/IndependentHealth or request a copy of each by contacting a RedShirt®. Orders can be placed online, by telephone or by mail using the order form in the catalog.

How long do I have to spend my reward dollars?

All reward dollars must be used by December 31st each year. Reward dollars do not carry over plan year to plan year. If an item you wish to purchase costs more than the reward dollars you have earned, you will be responsible for any additional required funds.

*Not all preventive services are medically appropriate every year. Independent Health uses the frequency guidelines adopted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF). Services must be rendered by an in-network/participating provider. Other services performed at the same time as preventive services may be subject to member cost sharing. Benefits vary by plan and are subject to change on January 1 each year. For more details refer to your Evidence of Coverage (EOC).
