August 13, 2020: Independent Health announces rate decreases for 2021 small group and individual products
Independent Health’s commercial product offerings for 2021 will have something for almost everyone: the lowest rate adjustments in years and new products that build upon the company’s commitment to engage members and providers through innovation and technology. The small group rates will drop an average of 2.7% from current levels, and the individual, direct-pay plans will decrease an average of 5.3%.

August 4, 2020: Reddy Bikeshare, in Partnership with Independent Health, Expands with 11 New Locations, 40 Additional Bikes
Reddy Bikeshare, in partnership with Independent Health, announced today that 11 new stations and 40 new bikes have been added to the fleet in the City of Buffalo for a total of 240 bikes and 55 stations now available. This expansion marks the first time bikes have been added to the fleet in Buffalo since the program launched on July 21, 2016 with 200 bikes. With 145 bikes and 30 stations in Niagara Falls, Reddy Bikeshare now provides a total of 385 bikes at 85 stations in the Buffalo-Niagara region.

Independent Health today announced it is deepening its partnership with Brook, the innovative Seattle-based health-technology company that helps individuals take better care of their health. Based on the expanding needs of its users, Brook is broadening its feature-set to give actionable tools to augment the personalized, on-demand health support provided 24-hours a day, from real health experts.

July 16, 2020: $1.00 Annual Passes Available to Essential Workers
Reddy Bikeshare in partnership with Independent Health, with support from the Better Bike Share Partnership, is offering $1.00 annual passes to essential workers until 500 total passes are redeemed. Membership discounts also available to the public to accommodate increased demand for biking.

July 14, 2020: Helping employers address mental illness in the workplace though a unique initiative by Independent Health and Horizons Health Services
Mental Health Toolkit supports leadership and associates of employers throughout WNY. Increasingly, even before our current societal challenges, employers are seeking to retain and ensure a productive workforce by addressing overall health and wellness, which includes mental health concerns experienced by one in five adults, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

May 29, 2020: Independent Health to Continue Covering All Costs for COVID-19 treatment
Independent Health announced today that it will continue to waive copayments or cost-sharing for COVID-19 medical treatment for its fully insured employer groups, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and individual plan members until further notice. Early last month the company announced it would cover COVID-19 treatment with no member liability through May 31, 2020, which it now extended due to the continued prevalence of the virus.

Independent Health is the highest-ranked health insurance plan for member satisfaction among Commercial Health Plans in New York State, according to J.D. Power’s 2020 U.S. Commercial Member Health Plan Study℠.

May 8, 2020: Independent Health Foundation, Independent Health, and Pegula Sports & Entertainment Distribute Free Wellness Bags and Produce to East Side Families at Northland Workforce Training Center
The Independent Health Foundation and Independent Health teamed up with Pegula Sports & Entertainment to support underserved families in the City of Buffalo by providing essential items during the COVID-19 pandemic at the Northland Workforce Training Center.

April 23, 2020: WNY Community Leaders are Pledging Their Personal Financial Support in Response to COVID-19 Crisis
More than 20 local community leaders have joined forces to launch the Community Leaders Response Fund, pledging their personal financial support in response to the COVID-19 crisis we are facing together. Independent Health and the Buffalo Bills are encouraging Western New Yorkers to stay active and connected by taking part in this spring’s Health & Wellness Challenge. This fun and engaging program will take place from April 27 through June 7. Participants will be eligible to win a variety of prizes by moving more, eating better and drinking water.

Independent Health today announced it is expanding its partnership with Brook, an innovative Seattle-based technology company, to offer the Western New York community free access to the Brook Personal Health Companion App for the duration of the COVID-19 health emergency.

February 14, 2020: Reddy Bikeshare and Independent Health Report Best Results Yet in 2019, and Look Forward to Continued Expansion in 2020
Reddy Bikeshare and Independent Health officials announced final results for the 4th season of the bikeshare program in the city of Buffalo, including the first season in the city of Niagara Falls.
