Now Hiring 57 Full-Time Positions

Independent Health and its affiliate company, Nova, hiring 57 full-time customer service positions

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Independent Health aims to fill 32 customer service representative positions and its affiliate company, Nova Healthcare Administrators, is hiring 25 care navigators, including several bilingual care navigators, in its customer service department. Independent Health and Nova are looking to fill these positions by late May or June.

“As locally based, deeply rooted companies, Independent Health and Nova are pleased to be in a position to hire 57 employees and help further support the economic rebound of our region,” said Patricia Clabeaux, executive vice president and chief human resources officer. “And as a nationally recognized, award-winning company for customer service and member satisfaction, we look forward to adding more associates to our team who share our company’s passion for service and commitment to our members and community.”

Independent Health and its affiliate companies offer competitive salaries, generous health care and paid-time-off benefits, education assistance, considerable 401(k) matching contributions, and career development opportunities.

For the entry-level customer service positions a bachelor’s degree is preferred, though not required. New hires have the opportunity for rapid advancement through Independent Health and its four affiliate companies, which include Nova, a health care solutions company focused on reducing health care costs for employers and improving health plan performance, Pharmacy Benefit Dimensions, Reliance Rx, and the Independent Health Foundation.

“Many associates in our customer service areas have quickly moved up the ranks and significantly increased their salaries within a couple years,” said Clabeaux.

Rachel Hirschbeck is one of those employees. After graduating from Cornell University in 2015 with a degree in Communications and Human Development, Hirschbeck accepted a temporary customer service position in the reimbursement department at Nova and later joined the team as a full-time, permanent associate. Since then, she was promoted two times and now works in a supervisory role as a client account manager at Nova.

“When I accepted the temporary position in customer service I thought it was a good opportunity to learn about an industry I wasn’t familiar with. But I wasn’t actively seeking a job in customer service,” said Hirschbeck. “The company culture was appealing and the leadership at Nova provided the support I needed to learn and grow within my role. I have had a positive experience within the organization which has enabled me to continue to grow within the company in a different department. I know I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do but I am glad for the experience the customer service role provided and the foundation it offered for me to build a career.”

The corporate culture at Independent Health has resulted in the company receiving many best places to work honors. Most recently Independent Health and its affiliate companies – Pharmacy Benefit Dimensions, RelianceRx, and Nova – were all recently named among the best companies to work for in New York State. The annual Best Companies to Work for in New York State survey and awards program identifies and honors the top places of employment in the state. This is the 13th consecutive year that Independent Health has earned this prestigious distinction.

“It is an honor to consistently be recognized as one of the best companies to work for in New York State,” said Clabeaux. “This acknowledgment reflects the investment Independent Health makes to create a positive work environment and rewarding career path for our associates.”
