Class Descriptions

Western New Yorkers of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate in our outdoor and online fitness classes, led by YMCA certified instructors. It is recommended that you check with your physician before embarking on any type of fitness program.

Barre – Fusing some of the elements of ballet, Pilates, and yoga. Freestyle Barre is guaranteed to tone in a low impact, high-intensity setting. Focus is centered on postural strength and alignment along with upper and lower body strength.

Cardio Dance – Simple yet challenging choreography set to music. Cardio dance will enhance cardiovascular endurance, muscle tone, flexibility and coordination.

Centergy (Yoga/Pilates) – Grow longer and stronger with this invigorating workout for the mind and body. Fundamentals from yoga and Pilates are incorporated into this class along with athletic training for balance, mobility, flexibility, and strengthening the core.

Fight – An explosive and thrilling Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) cardio and strength workout that targets the whole body while improving your timing, precision and focus.

Fusion – Get an entire-body workout in one class with 15 minutes of high/low aerobics, 15 minutes of body conditioning, and 15 minutes of abdominal work.

Kickboxing – A great way to relieve stress and tension, this aerobic-based class combines martial arts, boxing, aerobic exercises, and strengthening exercises to increase flexibility, balance, strength, and coordination. Learn the proper way to kick and punch in a safe, non-contact environment.

Low Impact Cardio – Enjoy low impact cardiovascular exercises set to music.

Low Impact Circut – Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit training work-out.

Pilates – Strengthen the body’s core muscles, including the abdominals and lower back, with this method of body conditioning. It will tone the body and increase flexibility.

Pound® – This workout fuses cardio, Pilates, strength movements, plyometric and isometric poses. Through continual upper body motion using lightly weighted exercise drumsticks, called Ripstix®, you’ll turn into a calorie-torching drummer!

Slow Flow Yoga – This Hatha-style class is geared for beginners or those who want more time to practice and hold their poses.

Sunset Yoga – While the sun sets, you’re encouraged to relieve stress and build strength by incorporating the mind, body and spirit into your workout. This hatha-based class helps improve flexibility, muscular strength, posture and alignment through yoga poses, breathing and relaxation. Appropriate for all levels of students.

Yoga – Enjoy gentle, effective postures that promote stretching, strengthening and relaxation. Benefits include increased blood circulation, improved mental awareness, strengthened muscles and reduced stress! We recommend bringing your own yoga mat.

Zumba® – Are you ready to party yourself into shape? Forget the workout, just lose yourself in the music and find yourself in shape at the original dance-fitness party. Zumba® classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats.
