Medicare Advantage Plans

As of April 4, 2022, Medicare beneficiaries, including members of Medicare Advantage plans, can get up to eight free OTC tests for the month of April any time before April 30.  Then you can get another set of eight free OTC tests each calendar month through the end of the Public Health Emergency period.

  • To get the free tests, you will have to go to a pharmacy that is participating in this Federal program. You will need to show your red, white and blue Medicare card. To view the pharmacies, please visit the Federal Government website.
  • This is a Federal program, so Medicare Advantage members are not able to buy the tests on their own and submit a receipt for reimbursement.  You must visit one of the pharmacies participating in the Federal program.
  • Please note, now that Medicare is covering OTC tests, the tests will no longer be available through the NationsOTC benefit.

Independent Health covers the test kits for these state programs with no member cost share. MediSource and Child Health Plus members may get one at-home testing kit per week.  Essential plan members may get two testing kits per week.
