Tops Friendly Markets closing 27 pharmacies

Tops Friendly Markets recently announced the closing of 27 of its pharmacies throughout New York and Pennsylvania, including six pharmacies in Western New York. These closures occurred the week of January 19.

Independent Health has about 2,300 members (throughout all lines of business) who have used one of Tops pharmacies that will be closing within the past six months. Among the Tops locations that are impacted include:
  • Albion
  • East Aurora
  • Falconer
  • Jamestown
  • Springville
  • Williamsville

Tops has securely transferred its customers’ prescriptions from the 27 locations to select Rite Aid and CVS locations that are near each impacted store. These customers will need to inform their doctors that their prescriptions should now be sent to either Rite Aid or CVS. Any customers who wish to use a different pharmacy other than Rite Aid or CVS may need to contact their doctor to have their existing prescriptions rewritten and sent to the new pharmacy they have selected.
