Fitness in the Parks - Frequently Asked Questions

Who can participate?
Any resident of Western New York, of any age, can participate in the Fitness in the Parks class offerings. It is recommended that you check with your physician before embarking on any type of fitness program.

What if the weather is bad?
Classes will be canceled in the event of rain or poor weather. Day-of cancellations will be listed at, the YMCA Buffalo Niagara Facebook page and the Independent Health Facebook page

How can I sign up?
No sign-up or registration is required! Just show up at the scheduled time.

What classes do you offer?

Is equipment, like yoga mats, provided?
Instructors will have a limited amount of equipment, such as yoga mats, that can be used during the class. However, it is recommended that participants bring their own mats.

Who teaches the classes?
All classes are taught by YMCA certified instructors.
