Addressing health care challenges takes a multipronged, collaborative approach
by Michael W. Cropp, President and CEO, Independent Health
We’re in the midst of significant health care challenges no generation has encountered before. U.S. health care spending continues to increase at an unsustainable rate. The cost of care for a typical American family of four covered by an employer-sponsored health plan in 2018 was $28,166 according to the Milliman Medical Index. If the cost of health care continues to grow at the historical 6 percent growth rate, that number will increase to $47,500 by the year 2025 (which would be well over half of an average American family’s annual income).
New services now offered as part of our telemedicine benefit
As part of Independent Health’s efforts to help make health care as accessible as possible, we offer a telemedicine benefit provided through Teladoc®. Whenever your employees can’t reach their primary care physician, Teladoc can put them in touch by phone with a U.S. board-certified doctor to discuss a variety of common medical issues, such as:
A Health Savings Account (HSA) might be the right fit for you and your employees
More than ever before, employers are putting their employees in greater control of their own health care decisions by offering high-deductible health plans (HDHPs). According to the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), 43.7% of persons under age 65 with private health insurance were enrolled in an HDHP in 2017 – and increase of 18.4% from 2010.
We’re helping your employees stay healthy and active this winter
