It’s important that your employees have a primary care physician (PCP)

A primary care physician (PCP) can help your employees better manage their health. That’s because a PCP serves as the central source for information and guidance on all matters of their patients’ health and well-being – even if they’re healthy. A PCP provides:

Brook Personal Health Companion
With the Brook Personal Health Companion, your employees have the tools and personalized support to manage their health and well-being and create new routines that help them stay healthy. The Brook mobile app is here to help your employees with:

  • Answers to their COVID-19 questions
  • Supporting healthy immune function
  • Stress management
  • Staying active at home
  • Simple, healthy home cooking
  • Concerns about sleep
  • Managing diabetes and/or hypertension and logging their blood sugar and/or blood pressure readings so that they can keep their doctors informed, especially in-between visits

While many of Independent Health’s plans already include Brook as a FREE member benefit, we are now offering FREE access to Brook for non-members during this health crisis. Your employees can feel confident knowing they have expert support right at their fingertips by downloading Brook today.

Zipongo®
This free web-based platform for Independent Health members can provide your employees with ways to eat healthier, including features to connect to online grocery shopping and delivery, as well as prepared and ready-to-make meal kits. Zipongo takes the guesswork out of healthy eating with personalized meal recommendations based on a user’s biometrics and food preferences.

Zipongo has worked with dietitians, epidemiologists and physicians to create a special “How to be Foodsmart during the Coronavirus Pandemic” toolkit. Your employees can log in to their Independent Health member account and click the Zipongo logo to get started.

Teladoc®
Although we encourage our members to contact their primary care physician for their medical needs, we realize this isn’t always possible. So, when your employees can’t reach their primary care physician, Independent Health’s telemedicine benefit provided through Teladoc® allows them to talk with a doctor anytime, anywhere by phone, mobile app or online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Teladoc connects your employees and their covered dependents to a national network of board-certified doctors who average 15 years’ experience. It’s a faster way to feel better for non-emergency conditions, including allergies, bronchitis, pink eye and sinus problems.

We have waived the cost share for Teladoc services during the COVID-19 outbreak for our members’ ease and convenience. Learn more about Teladoc, including how your employees can download the app to their Apple or Android devices. Please note: Due to the unprecedented situation presented by COVID-19, wait times to connect with a Teladoc physician will vary and may take longer than usual.

More information about these and other helpful tools and resources are available online.

At a time when it’s become extremely important for everyone to manage their overall health and practice social distancing, the Health & Wellness Challenge incentivizes people of all ages to adopt healthy habits and provides helpful ways to do that – even at home!

By moving more, eating wisely and drinking enough water, participants will earn points for chances to win a variety of daily and weekly prizes, as well as the Grand Prize VIP Bills Experience, which includes on-field passes at the home opener and lunch with Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Harrison Phillips.

The latest round of this free, community-wide program began on April 27 and runs through June 7.
