J.D. Power once again recognizes Independent Health for member satisfaction
Independent Health has been named the second highest ranked health plan for member satisfaction in the New York region, according to the J.D. Power 2021 U.S. Commercial Member Health Plan StudySM. J.D. Power’s annual syndicated study examines the experience of health plan members and recognizes health plans in the country that achieve a high level of customer satisfaction for their members.

Health & Wellness Challenge to reward Western New Yorkers for being healthy
Independent Health, Official Health & Wellness Partner of the Buffalo Bills, is excited to announce that the latest round of the “Independent Health and Buffalo Bills Health & Wellness Challenge” will be held from May 24 through July 4. Participants will be eligible to win a variety of prizes by meeting daily goals and completing fun and healthy activities.

Independent Health aims to fill 32 customer service representative positions and its affiliate company, Nova Healthcare Administrators, is hiring 25 care navigators, including several bilingual care navigators, in its customer service department.

Tenth grade Buffalo Public School student members of the Independent Health Foundation’s Student Peer Advocate Program are seeking to support local children in need by encouraging donations to the Buffalo Birthday Box Initiative online.

“Independent Health Giving Day” to benefit United Way’s Join the Fight Fund for COVID-19 relief
On Tuesday, March 16, Independent Health and the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County (UWBEC) will seek to mobilize community members for one day of giving to support UWBEC’s Join the Fight Fund. All donations made will support UWBEC’s efforts to respond, recover, reimagine and rebuild a more equitable, resilient Erie County in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Independent Health is partnering with Brook – a leading digital health platform for chronic disease management – to offer a CDC-recognized Diabetes Prevention Program called Brook+. This structured, year-long lifestyle change program is now available as a covered benefit with a $0 member cost share under all of Independent Health’s fully insured, commercial plans.

Reddy Bikeshare, in partnership with Independent Health, reports 222% increase in sign-ups between Niagara Falls and Buffalo in 2021
Reddy Bikeshare and Independent Health officials announced ridership results from the program’s 5th season, in which more people signed up to ride in 2020 than in the previous four seasons combined. Indicating significant growth in the popularity of biking in Western New York, sign-ups to the program increased by 222% from 2019 to 2020.

United Way of Buffalo & Erie County Receives $100,000 Matching Grant from Independent Health to Support Long-Term COVID-19 Relief
United Way of Buffalo & Erie County (UWBEC) announced today a matching grant of $100,000 from Independent Health to encourage contributions from individuals and companies across Erie County to UWBEC’s Join the Fight campaign. This is the second matching grant of $100,000 UWBEC has received from a corporate partner. The first was awarded by the National Fuel Gas Company Foundation.

Health & Wellness Challenge surpasses 40,000 registrant mark
More than 40,000 individuals have now registered for the Independent Health and Buffalo Bills Health & Wellness Challenge. This exciting milestone was reached during the 13th round of the popular community program, which ran from October 19 through November 29.
