December 1, 2016: Independent Health and Chautauqua Integrated Delivery System Announce Value-Based Agreement
Independent Health and the Chautauqua IDS, an integrated delivery system consisting of 139 physicians in Chautauqua county, have established a new reimbursement agreement based on quality and value.
This reimbursement model promotes patient-centered care through the use of best practices and clinical excellence.

Independent Health and the Pharmacists’ Association of Western New York (PAWNY) partnered on a unique pilot program in the fall of 2016 that was dedicated to improving medication adherence and health outcomes through direct pharmacist-to-patient interactions.

Independent Health and the Buffalo Bills have announced that the fifth round of the Health & Wellness Challenge will take place from October 3 through November 13. In addition to achieving a healthier lifestyle, participants will be eligible to win a variety of weekly prizes, as well as the grand prize V.I.P. Buffalo Bills Game Day Experience for the team’s home game against Cleveland on December 18.

Independent Health is again one of the highest-rated health insurance plans in the nation according to the 2016-2017 Health Insurance Plan Ratings by The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), a private, leading organization dedicated to improving health care quality.
July 21, 2016: New Reddy Bikeshare Program Launched in the City of Buffalo
Independent Health and Shared Mobility Inc. launched the new Reddy bikeshare program in the City of Buffalo. Following the announcement, Independent Health President and CEO Michael W. Cropp, M.D., Shared Mobility CEO Michael Galligano, Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown, and the Reddy bikeshare team led an inaugural group ride around Delaware Park.
July 1, 2016: Top Major League Eaters to compete at Kale Yeah! The World’s Healthiest Eating Championship
The Independent Health Foundation and the sanctioning body for eating competitions throughout the U.S. have cooked up a fun, new entrée, Kale Yeah! The World’s Healthiest Eating Championship. Professional eaters will compete for the Kale Cup during the 2016 Taste of Buffalo on Saturday, July 9 at 2 p.m. on the steps of City Hall.
June 24, 2016: Thousands take part in this spring’s Independent Health and Buffalo Bills Health & Wellness Challenge
More than 13,000 Western New Yorkers stepped up this spring to take part in the Independent Health and Buffalo Bills Health & Wellness Challenge. Overall, 3,360 new participants registered for the community-wide health and wellness initiative, which ran from April 18 through May 29.
June 17, 2016: Independent Health and YMCA Buffalo Niagara Present Fitness in the Parks for Fifth Consecutive Year
Independent Health and YMCA Buffalo Niagara are teaming up for the fifth consecutive year to offer Fitness in the Parks, free outdoor community exercise classes throughout Western New York. The outdoor classes begin on Sunday, June 19 and run until Saturday, August 27.
April 25, 2016: Dr. Michael W. Cropp to serve as honorary chairman for 2016 Tour de Cure®
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) has announced that Michael W. Cropp, M.D., president and CEO of Independent Health, will serve as honorary chairman of the 2016 Buffalo Niagara Tour de Cure. This year’s Tour de Cure will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016, beginning at Old Falls Street in downtown Niagara Falls, NY.
April 11, 2016: Independent Health and the Buffalo Bills launch fourth Health & Wellness Challenge
Independent Health and the Buffalo Bills have announced that the fourth round of “The Independent Health and Buffalo Bills Health & Wellness Challenge” will take place from April 18 through May 29. In addition to achieving a healthier lifestyle, one lucky participant will be selected to win a trip for two to Los Angeles on the Bills team plane to see them play the West Coast’s newest team.
