– Get ready to head back to school with A+ vision. Free vision screenings will be offered at the Independent Health Foundation’s Good for the Neighborhood programs in August. Three events will be held:
- 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at West Side Community Services, 161 Vermont St., Buffalo.
- 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at the Doris W. Jones Family Resource Building, 3001 Ninth St., Niagara Falls.
- 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Westminster Community Charter School, 24 Westminster Ave., Buffalo.
Free vision screenings will be provided by Visionworks at the events, and attendees will also receive vouchers for eye exams and glasses by Davis Vision. In addition, free health screenings for blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and body mass index will be offered. Everyone who obtains a health screening at the events will receive a prize.
The Good for the Neighborhood® events will also include activities for children and a free farmers' market with fresh fruits and vegetables. Attendees will receive a free voucher they can redeem for a specific amount of the fresh produce of their choice.
