BUFFALO, N.Y. (January 13, 2014) - Independent Health has been named one of the best companies to work for in New York State for the seventh consecutive year.
The seventh annual Best Companies to Work for in New York State survey and awards program identifies and honors the top places of employment in the state. Independent Health is a finalist in the large-size company category, which includes companies with 250 or more U.S. employees. Since its inception in 2007, the Best Companies program has quickly become a prestigious honor for winners, and a company’s participation often leads to valuable long-term benefits for its corporate culture.
“Independent Health takes a great deal of pride in our company’s culture, so we are truly honored and excited to be recognized as one of the best companies to work for in New York State for the seventh consecutive year,” said Michael W. Cropp, M.D., president and chief executive officer, Independent Health. “This honor validates the investment Independent Health makes to ensure a positive work experience for our employees. Built on passion, caring, respect, collaboration and accountability, we have created a culture that leverages the potential of our employees to the fullest and is strengthened by the talents of our diverse workforce. This distinction, as well as our success as a company, is a credit to our employees, who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of their colleagues and customers.”
Employers from across New York took part in the program’s two-part process to determine the best companies. Also, the Best Companies Group conducted a survey, which evaluated and ranked the best places of employment based on employee satisfaction, engagement, and workplace practices and policies.
Independent Health will be recognized at the Best Companies to Work for in New York State awards dinner on May 6, at the Marriott in Albany where the final rankings and winners will be revealed.
Independent Health employees enjoy many great benefits, including paid time off, education assistance, 401(k) retirement savings plan and an Employee Assistance Program. The company also offers holiday pay, career development opportunities, rewards and recognition honors, a robust worksite wellness program and several company-wide events for employees to enjoy.
Employees also have the opportunity to give back to the community. Last year, more than 200 employees volunteered at events throughout Western New York. Additionally in 2013, Independent Health employees raised approximately $145,000 for charities throughout Western New York through its dress down program.
