AMHERST, N.Y., (May 17, 2012) – Independent Health announced today that it has brought its nationally recognized customer service to the mobile world by launching MyIH, a mobile app that provides members with quick access to important information via their smartphones and other mobile devices.
MyIH is now available as a free download for Androidtm, iPhone® and Blackberry®.
With MyIH, Independent Health members are able to securely view their benefits, locate a doctor and carry an electronic version of their member ID card.
Tom Kingsley, vice president, digital experience and member operations, said the portable and easy-to-use MyIH app gives members the tools they need to become more engaged and empowered in managing their health care.
Tom Kingsley, vice president, digital experience, announces our new mobile app, MyIH.
“The MyIH app provides members with the information they are looking for – whenever and wherever they need it – whether they are at home, at work or on the go,” said Kingsley. “The virtual ID card is especially convenient for members who are out of town on business or vacation and college students who are away from home.”
Key features and member benefits of the MyIH app include:
Find a Doctor or Facility - members can search Independent Health’s entire local network of participating doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and other providers such as urgent care centers and use GPS technology to find directions and maps to their addresses. This feature also allows users to call the physician or provider directly from the search result.
My ID Card - allows members the ability to see and show their health insurance ID card, and email and fax their card to any health care provider or facility, so users’ ID cards will never be forgotten for a visit to the doctor’s office or unavailable for an unexpected trip to the emergency room.
My Benefits - provides members of our commercial group plans with easy access to benefit summary information including copayments and coinsurance, benefit limits, and coverage.
“Independent Health is pleased to be the first health plan in Western New York to offer a mobile app to its members,” said Kingsley. “Given our nationally recognized, award-winning service, we want to continue to offer our members the quality service and convenience they expect. We feel it is our responsibility to take the lead in providing members with products, services and information that leverage the latest technologies so they can make informed health care decisions.
“MyIH complements Independent Health’s other convenient services for members, including 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. service hours Monday through Friday and our Medicare Information Centers, which offer a friendly and welcoming environment to visit and get answers to Medicare questions. Visitors can meet one-on-one with one of our knowledgeable RedShirts or attend a seminar to learn about our exciting plan options,” said Kingsley.
Jill Syracuse, chief engagement and service officer, discusses MyIH.
Recognized as one of the highest-ranked health insurance plans in the nation for all lines of business, according to the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), and ranked the top insurance plan in the New York/New Jersey region for the third consecutive year by J.D. “Improving the quality, access and affordability of health care is a goal we continue to drive locally and nationally,” said Kingsley. “MyIH will continue to grow with additional features and functions planned as we continue to deliver solutions that improve the health of the communities we serve.”
